So last night the Dallas Stars unveiled a statue of Mike Modano. This guy was pretty influential in bringing hockey and the love for the game to Texas. He hadn’t been in the league very long when they moved the North Stars to Texas. And the fans here embraced him and the way he played the game.
My wife and I went to the game and watched the Stars beat the Kings. But that’s not what the night was about. It was about celebrating the legacy of one of the all time greats. It was about celebrating the greatest American born scorer in NHL history.
After the game he took time to go around talk with fans and shake hands and get some pictures. Other Dallas Stars greats were in attendance. I talked to Brendon Morrow. Daryl Sydor was there taking pictures as well. But the night belonged to Mike Modano.
